Marketing for VoIP and hosted resellers

You sell hosted seats. So does everyone else, on broadly the same platform, at broadly the same price.

Ten hosted resellers plotted against a single axis, price. Nine sit as identical points on one falling line. The tenth, drawn larger, sits at the bottom of it.

Look at ten hosted reseller websites and they are interchangeable. Feature lists lifted from the wholesaler, a price per seat, a stock photo of a headset.

Which means the only thing a prospect can compare is price, and that is the one fight where the biggest player wins.

What you actually sell

You are not selling a platform

Nobody buying a phone system is excited about call recording as a feature. They are buying what happens when it goes wrong at nine on a Monday.

Response times. Who picks up. Whether the person answering knows the account. Whether porting gets handled properly or takes six weeks and three failed dates.

That is what you actually sell. It is almost never what the website sells.

The way out of the price fight

Every hosted reseller reaches the same conclusion eventually: selling one product on price is a race with one winner. The escape is to sell more of what the customer needs and to be the person who handles it.

A staircase climbing away from a dashed per-seat price line. The first tread sits on the line. Each service added, connectivity, mobile, Microsoft 365 and security, lifts the next tread higher and moves it further from the line.

Connectivity. Mobile. Microsoft 365. Security. Each one you add moves you further from being compared on a per-seat price and closer to being the supplier they do not want to change.

That transition is a positioning problem before it is a product problem, and it is what we do.

White label and wholesale

If you resell under your own brand through Gamma, Giacom or another wholesaler, your brand does the entire job of differentiating a product you did not build. That makes positioning more important for you than for almost anyone else in the channel, not less.

Numbering

No RID, no problem

Plenty of good hosted businesses never applied for their own numbering range and never needed to. You are still a telecoms business, you still have a base, and you have the same growth problem as everyone else.

What we do

  • Positioning that separates you from every other reseller of the same platform
  • A website selling service and outcomes rather than a feature grid
  • Content and search that reach buyers before they start comparing on price
  • Outbound calling when you want conversations rather than traffic
